Workrave

Workrave is a program that assists in the recovery and prevention of Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI). The program frequently alerts you to take micro-pauses, rest breaks and restricts you to your daily limit. Please refer to the feature comparison for a complete list of features, and how the program performs with respect to other programs on the market. The program runs on GNU/Linux and Microsoft Windows.

I will be giving this program a try and will post a full review.  Why aren’t there more programs like around?  You can get the program @ Workrave

Gaming in a cloud

There’s a new gaming service on it’s way (it’s in beta now) and it takes gaming in a cloud to a whole new level.  Very cool… here is a video (only part 1 of 5…go to youtube or the site for the rest)..

POWERFUL GAMING MADE EASY

  • Connect to OnLive with your TV, PC or Mac® and start a game
  • Your game runs in a state-of-the-art OnLive game server center
  • OnLive connects you to game servers through the Internet, instantly sending your controller actions upstream and the results back downstream at blinding fast speeds
  • Enjoy ultra high-performance gameplay on your TV or entry-level PC or Mac

Please note the beta is only available in the U.S. right now   😦    …i’ll wait my turn!

Star Wars Transformers

Hasbro announced some of the Star Wars Transformers at the 2010 Toy Fair recently and frankly I think these miss the mark. Yoda doesn’t really look like Yoda at all- he looks like an armored Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle with a Yoda head. At least when he transforms into the attack shuttle, it looks pretty accurate. Here’s Anakin Skywalker below and his transformed self as a Y-Wing Fighter:

Something just isn’t right with that guy- he looks weird. The commenters over at tfw2005 seem to think that the Yoda is so bad, he’s good. I don’t know, sometimes bad is just bad. Anakin and a few others come out this month but we’ll have to wait until August to see Yoda in person.

Windows7 HomeGroup

I found a great article by the people at TechRepublic to walk anyone through setting up a HomeGroup using Windows7.  It’s a quick and easy guide, for the average home user, check it out:

How do I create and configure a network with Windows 7 HomeGroup?

and if your feeling adventurous after that, go a bit further and read through:

Extend default folder sharing capabilities in Windows 7 HomeGroup
